Motivational Speaking Career?
by: Simon Replys

A career in motivational speaking would be a very rewarding job. Motivating and encouraging others is also something that is greatly needed with so many people down and depressed.

The first thing to do is to get speaking.
No qualifications required for this job – if you can do it, you are qualified.
In the words of Zig Ziglar, 'You don't have to be great at something to start, but you have to start to be great at something.'

Join Toastmasters etc, connect with other motivational speakers on LinkedIn and listen to lots to other speakers - there are many of them.
Tony Robbins, Zig Ziglar (deceased), Jim Rohn and Tony Christiansen are some of my favourites.

If you have ability you will do well but recognise all skills require honing and be open to constructive criticism.

Get some speaking YouTube videos up and seek feedback.
You need to provide talks to groups as often as you possible.

Tony Robbins before his fame had a goal of carrying out speaking engagements to some group, of some kind, EVERY DAY. That's one of the reasons he is where he is.

Some possible job types if you decided not to go down the motivational speaking career are:

Coaching (life coach, corporate or small business coach, sports coach, career coach)
Counsellor
HR manager
Trainer - corporate or business.
Teacher
Rehabilitation Worker
Doorman
Receptionist
Doctor/Nurse
Concierge
Event Planner
DJ
Manager
